Cathodic protection (CP) is a technique used to control the corrosion of a metal surface by making it the cathode of an electrochemical cell. A simple method of protection connects the metal to be protected to a more easily corroded “sacrificial metal” to act as the anode. The sacrificial metal then corrodes instead of the protected metal. For structures such as long pipelines, where passive galvanic cathodic protection is not adequate, an external DC electrical power source is used to provide sufficient current.

PWATCH-2 provide wireless monitoring of cathodic protection performance

PWATCH-2 offers diverse communication features for an Internet based remote access via 4G/3G/2G networks. All configuration, reporting, monitoring and diagnostics facilities are available remotely to form a modern, supervisory monitoring system that greatly eliminates number of visits to field stations.

PWATCH-2 supports multiple, concurrent, inbound and outbound TCP connections to allow multiple masters access the same remote device simultaneously and to support company’s dedicated web based solution.

Autonomous battery operation with full communication features eliminates the need for external power systems when mains power is unavailable at remote sites.

PWATCH detects potential corrosion problems

Whether you are a pipeline operator, an oil and gas producer, or a supplier, corrosion monitoring is an essential part of your operations. It can help ensure your assets are protected and avoid costly repairs. In addition, it can help you find trouble spots before they cause costly damage.

With remote corrosion monitoring, you can keep an eye on the health of your pipeline. This can help you identify problem areas and notify your company of critical events. It can also help you keep your equipment in good condition and prevent downtime.

Corrosion can be caused by many factors, including friction, chemicals, and electrochemical reactions. It can also be caused by other environmental factors. It can be especially harmful in industries that work with volatile materials.
